CVC Capital Velo Club  Racing News-

CVC Subaru of New England Places 3 on the podium in three different races this weekend.

On Saturday the 21st, Massimiliano Accaputo placed 2nd at the Mt. Sunapee Road Race in the Masters 35+ race.  Supported by Mark ( Henk ) Paggioli, both Max and Henk raced well, the break of the day formed late in the first lap after Henk decided the field was riding a bit slowly, Max noticed the pace was higher and that Henk was the one driving it, he countered the pace making which eventually set up the winning break of 3 that rode most of the 2nd lap alone.  That break of 3 was caught by two riders, one of which had his teammate in the break.  With two riders on the same team swapping turns to break the back of the initial break, Max and one other rider from the Strava team got away,  finishing some 40 seconds ahead of the remainder of the earlier break, and over a minute ahead of the field.  Henk rode to a strong 12th place after patrolling the field while Max was out front.  Congrats guys.

On Sunday the 22nd, Jeff Buckles increased his winning percentage by winning yet another Pro 1,2 Crit in Barre VT, Jeff’s second win in two weeks wearing the CVC Subaru of New England Kit!  Congrats to Jeff!!

Also on Sunday, Chris Cavallaro won the Cat 5 open race in Charleston RI.  Congrats Chris!

Fitchburg 2010

Our Category 2 riders that raced the 51st Fitchburg Longsjo Classic Stage Race,  July 2-5, 2010.  A great ride by Jeremy Brazeal placed him well overall.  Jeremy, just getting back to racing after taking some time off, had a great 4 days of racing while even single handily bring the break of 8 riders back in the crit on day 4.  Peter Petrillo unfortunately crashed on the road race stage, Pete was rushed to hospital after needing stitches, but he is ok, Pete is on great form and will be back racing in no time, heal up quickly Pete!  Massimiliano had a solid 4 days of racing after breaking his femur just 13 months prior to this race, he was able to finish strong even being able to move up in the GC after 4 days, not a bad stint for still not being at 100% status after the major injury last year.  Great job to the CVC Subaru of New England Cat 2 riders.

Peter Petrillo rode to a strong 6th place finish in the Master’s 35+ race at the Housatonic Hills Road Race, Pete took home the Gold medal in the 35-39 age group making him the CT Road Race Champ as well!  Pete had strong support from Massimiliano Accaputo, Jeremy Brazeal, Rick Carlton, Bob LaRocco, Mark Paggioli, & Trent Sullivan in today’s race.

Benjamin George also rode to a very strong 3rd place finish at the Housatonic Hills Road Race, Ben took home the Gold medal in the Cat 4 field making him the CT State Road Race Champ!!  Ben had strong support from Tom Kroll and Gabriel Remillard in today’s race.

Kimberly Edwards & Bridget Petrillo both raced the Harlem Skyscraper Classic today in the women’s open field, Kim raced to a super 3rd place finish, congrats to Kim for a great race today!!  Story here- http://tiny.cc/ialha

Racing-Sterling RR

Sterling MA- 5-08-10

Josh, Pete, Chris, Jeremy

Not the only team members to do the Sterling race on Saturday, a host of riders from the team did various category racing in torrential downpours, everyone home safe at the end of the day.

In the P 1,2 race Josh finished a respectable top 20 even with having suffered a broken front spoke, catching on and attacking the field once again to get away, great support rides from Pete, Chris and Jeremy as well.

The 35+ race riddled with bad bad weather, crashes and an unmotivated pack had Tim race into a top 20 spot as well, support ridden by Henk, Trent and Rick.

Bridget  rode extremely well, she raced  the W P 1,2 while battling some of the top women in New England along with it’s weather.

We also had some Cat 4 men and women out there in the horrible conditions, great job to all and we are all looking forward to some better weather to race in next weekend.
